Silicon Power Corporation
designs, fabricates and markets a wide range of
power semiconductor devices for a wide variety
of pulse power and power applications. General
Electric company operated the facility until
1994, when the present ownership transitioned
from GE to Silicon Power Corporation. Today, the
company produces thyristors up to 9kV and
silicon diameters in 100mm and 125mm sizes. In
2003 the company introduced the Solidtron
miniature thyristor product line based on the
MOS controlled thyristor and Super GTO
technology for low duty high voltage pulse
discharge applications. |

"Our
components are proven and practical
and have broad application in a world
increasingly dependent upon the microchip," says
Dr. Harshad Mehta, President and Founder. The
company is vertically integrated on the
large area semiconductor component line so that
it can easily custom
tailor solutions to meet individual customer
specifications.

The
77mm and 100mm devices are used by rail
transportation companies such as GE
Transportation and MARTA for use in traction
applications. The new Solidtron products are
used by the biggest fuze manufactures in
military weapon systems like the Patriot PAC-3 missile
and GMLRS missiles. Silicon
Power manufactures components that often
exceed specifications and expectations and
subsequently, the company has earned a
reputation for being market driven, and for
anticipating the changing needs of customers.
